Each year, the magnificent talents of New York theater attend the Tony Awards, an event that honors creatives on Broadway and provides the highest recognition of theatrical excellence.

For the 72nd Annual Tony Awards, Playbill’s Social Media Manager, Felicia Fitzpatrick, found that her mind “was running in 100 different directions to prepare for the night.” She knew that planning coverage for the red carpet live and drafting ideas for posts from within the press room would leave little time to prep her own hair and makeup.

That’s where BetsyElisaBeauty stepped in.

Shared Felicia, “Knowing I didn’t have to worry about doing my own hair and makeup let me focus on my work.” Before trekking to Radio City Music Hall, Felicia sat down with Betsy Reyes and Elisa Tallerico on the Upper West Side. According to Felicia, “It was so nice to be able to just sit back and relax and let Betsy and Elisa work their magic!”

This year, the Tony Awards took place on an unusually rainy day in Manhattan. To combat any potential humidity, Betsy took extra precaution for Felicia: “I used Paul Mitchell Hot Off The Press Spray for thermal protection and its a great anti humidity hold.” She found inspiration for Felicia’s style from her own natural curl pattern. Explained Betsy, “We ultimately created an asymmetrical updo to go with the flow of her dress.”

With a Hot Tools ⅜ inch hot iron in hand, Betsy perfected Felicia’s luscious curls, keeping the style smooth and tight on one sight by crafting a flat, French braid. Added Betsy, “To pop out the other side, I made a reverse braid and pulled it out to give it more volume and softness.”

For Felicia’s makeup, Elisa drew from Betsy’s hairdo and Felicia’s own style. Elisa made Felicia’s eyes “really pop” with a heavily-lined eye on the inner lid, then adding a hint of Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter to make Felicia’s eyes truly sparkly underneath the bright lights of the Radio City red carpet. For the overall lids, Elisa reached for the Urban Decay Naked3 palette, perfecting Felicia’s final look for her night at the 72nd Annual Tony Awards.
